Plastic Pollution
Help us Reduce plastic pollution in colombia
The Gulf of Tribugá (Colombia) is one of the last remaining natural jewels of this planet. However, plastic pollution is increasingly threatening the natural paradise.
Our environmental and marine work in Nuquí (including research, beach clean ups and educational programs) has shown us the complexity of the plastic problem in this region.
So we have decided to join other actors in this matter, to tackle the problem at its roots. Not only are we now working together with the recycling network of Nuquí (la red de reciclaje), we are also collaborating with other groups and NGOs to reduce plastic pollution in Nuquí. This project is called Mingamar.

In the midst of all the bad news concerning plastic pollution, there is also some good news: There are local heros who voluntarily help the community by reducing plastic pollution.
One of these inspiring people is Doña Maria. Six years ago, she decided one day to use her free time to help clean up the region.
Now she uses the space in her house as a collection and cleaning point for plastic waste. Piece by piece she sorts through the plastic, separates the different types of plastic and washes it so that it can be further processed and recycled by the red de reciclaje.
When we visited her place to see her work, we asked about how we could help as a foundation. She mentoined a hole in her roof and after cautious evaluation of her house, we thought she deserved to have a safer, cleaner and healthier place.
That’s why R&E and our partners have decided to raise funds to build Doña Maria a new house.
