About us

Mission

To research, preserve, and care for vulnerable marine environments and its species by providing communities with knowledge, training and tools for conservation, protection and economical growth towards a sustainable habitat and a strong community.

Vision

We want to inspire scientists and communities to work together in protecting and bringing in healthy marine ecosystems, through sustainable developments and conservation for co-operation and harmonious quality of life.

Our Objective

Our objective is to promote the conservation and sustainable management of marine ecosystems through scientific research, education, and public awareness. We aim to empower communities by providing knowledge and resources that foster socio-economic sustainability, while encouraging responsible marine practices in collaboration with governments, industries, NGOs, and local communities. By raising awareness of current threats to marine habitats and offering practical solutions, we inspire future generations through educational programs and volunteer opportunities. Through continuous learning and building strong partnerships, we strive to create a united effort toward a healthier and more sustainable marine environment.

Principles

We fully commit to everything we do, from our work and relationships to the values that guide us.

Dr. Jennifer Bachmann

Lead Researcher for WDCP

Jenny developed a deep love for the ocean at a young age, often spending her time by or in the sea. She achieved her dream of studying marine biology at Swansea University (UK), where a mentor inspired her interest in marine plankton. She then pursued further studies in marine microbiology in Germany, earning both a Master's and PhD in marine microbiology and biogeochemistry. However, her true passion has always been for the whales, dolphins, and sea turtles of the world’s oceans, which is why she is thrilled to now lead R&E’s dolphin conservation project. Read more

Dr. Dalia C. Barragan Barrera

A Marine Biologist with a degree from the University Jorge Tadeo Lozano and a PhD in Biological Sciences from the University of Los Andes, both in Colombia. She is currently part of the Laboratory of Molecular Ecology of Aquatic Vertebrates, led by Dr. Susana Caballero, where her research focuses on the behavior, distribution, habitat use, ecotoxicology, and genetic structure of cetaceans, particularly bottlenose dolphins in Bocas del Toro, Panama. Her primary interests include research, education, science journalism, and conservation. Read more

María Angélica Rueda Barajas

Researcher and Project Assistant

An Environmental Engineer graduated from Unidades Tecnológicas de Santander, dedicated to environmental protection and passionate about research, learning, and experimentation. My active involvement in the City Nature Challenge demonstrates my commitment to biodiversity conservation and my goal of fostering a more sustainable future.
